In June, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Aiken, South Carolina, to serve as the Career Development Curriculum Specialist for the 7th Annual SuccessTeam Leadership Academy.
SuccessTeam, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides educational youth development through mentorship, leadership development, and community outreach for young people aged 13-18. Their Leadership Academy is a week-long overnight leadership academy that creates a supportive environment for youth to gain the support network and skills needed to pursue and achieve their dreams and goals.
Mission Alignment & Outcomes
This collaboration with SuccessTeam Leadership Academy deeply aligned with Hustle Career Co.'s mission to empower the next generation of professionals by providing them with the tools and resources to build thriving careers.
On Day 4 of the academy, I facilitated a comprehensive Career Narrative Development Session and over the course of two hours, we covered essential career development topics including:
Professional storytelling and identifying key experiences
Personal branding and social media presence
Resume writing and elevator pitch development
The session yielded remarkable results. The students, some initially reserved, gradually opened up as they recognized the value of crafting their professional narratives. Several key outcomes emerged:
Increased confidence: Students who initially struggled to identify their strengths left with a clear understanding of their unique value proposition.
Practical skills development: Each participant developed and practiced their elevator pitch, gaining tangible tools for future opportunities.
Mindset shifts: Many students expressed a new perspective on how their current activities and interests could translate to future career paths.

Looking Forward
The session incorporated several of our core services, including:
Building a Career Strategy: Participants developed a framework for connecting their current activities to future career aspirations.
Workshop Development & Facilitation: Participants engaged in an interactive learning experience designed to build practical career skills through collaborative activities and real-time practice.
This experience reinforced our commitment to bridging opportunity gaps and creating pathways to leadership for underrepresented professionals, starting at the high school level. By equipping these young people with career development tools early, we're helping to build the next generation of leaders in the workforce.
As we continue to expand our partnerships with youth-serving organizations, we remain dedicated to our vision of becoming the leading career development platform for underrepresented professionals at all stages of their journey.
I'm grateful to SuccessTeam for the opportunity to contribute to their impactful work and look forward to continuing this partnership in the future.
